Wig Cap Size Guide — Stop Guessing, Start Measuring
A wig that does not fit is unwearable. Too small and it gives you a headache within an hour. Too big and it slides back, exposing your hairline. Most glueless wigs come in "average" or "medium" size, which fits about 90% of people. But if you are in the other 10%, you need to know before you buy. Here is how to measure.
The Three Measurements That Matter
Circumference (the main one)
Wrap a soft measuring tape around your head, starting at your front hairline, going behind your ears, around the nape of your neck, and back to the front. This is your head circumference. Average: 21.5-22.5 inches (54.5-57 cm).
Ear to Ear (across the top)
Measure from the top of one ear, across the top of your head, to the top of the other ear. This determines how wide the cap needs to be. Average: 13-14 inches.
Front to Nape
Measure from your front hairline, over the top of your head, down to the nape of your neck. Average: 14-15 inches.

How the Brands Actually Fit
Every brand says their caps are "average size" but in practice the fit varies. Based on actually wearing these wigs:
If you cannot measure: Most women fall into the average size range. If no wig has ever felt too tight or too loose on you, buy average. If wigs consistently feel like they are squeezing your temples, you need large. If they slide back and the ear tabs sit below your ears, you need petite. The drawstring on a glueless wig fixes about 80% of fit issues. The other 20% require a different cap size.
